STAG’s diverse team of military flying instructors and support personnel enables us to offer turn key training solutions, from selection and screening, through to graduating military pilots with contemporary skill sets. We ensure current, capable and confident individuals, ready to excel in their operational conversions.
> Fighter
STAG offers the most current and comprehensive fighter training available globally. From basic fighter manoeuvres, till advanced Beyond Visual Range tactics, we offer a complete modular approach to air-to-air warfare. Apart from the traditional air-to-ground aspects, STAG’s air-to-ground warfare training capability includes advanced all weather weapon delivery and ultra-low tactical flying in hostile environments.
> Helicopter
From the initial helicopter conversion, to advanced training in the utility and combat role, STAG experts have the complete skillset. Aspects covered include mountain/sea rescue, firefighting, trooping, command and control, NVG, all weather capability, gunnery, dust landings and maritime operations. Combat operations include escort of ground and airborne assets, fire support, Close Air Support, Nap of the Earth flying, strike and reconnaissance.
> Unmanned Aerial Vehicles
STAG experts have operated and trained on advanced UAV platforms in theatre. STAG offers training on multi-rotor and fixed wing drones from basic to Beyond Visual Line-Of-Sight (BVLOS). We assist with advice and integration of drones to complement existing operations.
> Large Force Exercises (LFE)
STAG can assist with the planning and execution of Large Force Exercises, integrating land, sea and air in realistic scenarios. STAG experts have also got extensive experience in the planning and execution of multinational, multilateral Humanitarian Aid and Disaster Relief (HADR) and Non-Combatant Evacuation Operations (NEO) exercise planning and execution.
Mission Support
> Forward Air Control (FAC)
Close Air Support involves the direction of airborne assets to deliver weapons to support ground battles. From its inception, FAC has been a force multiplier, and essential in modern asymmetric warfare. STAG has access to the best qualified NATO controllers on offer.
> Survival & Combat Search and Rescue (CSAR)
Years of training and immense financial resources are invested to train capable aircrew. To protect these interests, downed aircrew must be recovered. The CSAR course will teach aircrew how to survive on the ground, evade capture, escape when captured and what to expect during interrogation. The procedures involved in the recovery of crew is also covered and presented by ex-Special Forces members.
> Fighter Controllers
A critical part of any fighter force are the fighter controllers. Fighter controllers are the eyes on the battlefield, and provide the big air picture to all players involved. They form an essential part of any fighter operation. From broadcast control using a Bull’s Eye fix, to tactical and close control, our team has vast experience of current NATO controlling standards. We also offer proper close control training, a lost art in large forces, but still relevant to aid smaller tactical forces.
> Electronic Warfare (EW)
Basic to advance courses on active and passive systems, introduce the principles of EW, EW systems, jamming techniques employed as well as flight tactics used to enhance the survivability against modern systems. It is essential for aircrew to understand the electromagnetic spectrum on the modern battlefield. Our team has 40 years of experience and has consulted several forces in Africa, Europe, Middle-and Far East.
> Air Traffic Control (ATC)
Deconflicting aircraft on the ground, during departure, flight and during recovery, ATC enhances safety and the efficient movement of aircraft. Our team has international experience in Africa, Middle-East, Asia-Pacific and Europe, and provides training and services for ground, tower, information and approach control.
Special Operations
Our team of ex-Special Forces Operators have a vast experience base from training to actual operations, most notably in Africa and Afghanistan. STAG can assist with screening, preparation and selection of possible candidates. Training aspects on offer include infiltration by land, air and sea, demolition on land and underwater, various aspects of weapons training, survival in all environments, urban and rural minor tactics, bush craft and tracking, medical first response, hand-to-hand combat, and reconnaissance.
Flight Testing
> Experimental Test Pilot (ETP)
An experimental test pilot is a person with the knowledge and skills to partake in the development, clearance, and evaluation of aircraft systems, handling, and performance. They play a pivotal role during the acquisition and upgrade process of aircraft or weapon systems to ensure that the equipment meets the required specification agreed upon between the parties involved.
> Maintenance Test Pilot (MTP)
Aircraft require post servicing check fights to confirm aircraft are safe and serviceable. The MTP course enables a deeper understanding of critical systems, and test techniques to evaluate aircraft performance and handling.
> Operational Test and Evaluation (OT&E)
Accepting a new or updated aircraft or system, requires pilots to understand the acquisition processes, the risks involved, how to evaluate the systems and how to report on the functionality. The focus is on the operational evaluation of the system and not the development of new systems.
